This watermelon is from my parents-in-law's backyard farm. Their watermelons always make me realize the season became summer. They have brought us this watermelon this morning and I sketched in the evening. The 20th of July, 2009.
This bread is called "vin rouge" because it contain wine-soaked raisins and walnuts. I bought this bread and I sketched today. It is on the 18th of July, 2009.
This tiny handcarved bowl is a sugar pot made by a Kenyan craftsman. I used this when I was in Kenya but I kept this in a cupboard after getting back to Japan. This unvarnished surface was not suitable for the humid Japanese climate and easily got mouldy... I found this sugar pot while I was rearranging things in my room then I sketched it on the 15th of July, 2009.
Maize (corn) from a farm in Mie prefecture, central Japan. Very very sweet. I got surprised to eat this maize at a farm-managed restaurant and then I have bought an ear today. Sketched this on the day I bought—the 13th of July, 2009.
I attended a wedding ceremony of a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago and this heart-shaped rice cracker was a small gift from the bride and bridegroom at the banquet. Of course it was the first time for me to see the heart-shaped rice cracker! I sketched it on the 10th July, 2009.
This apple is another offering at the memorial service. I used almost the same colours as the mango I updated yesterday. Sketched it on the 7th of July, 2009.
I attended a Buddhist memorial service for my grandfather last weekend and this mango is one of the offerings. First time I saw this mango, I thought I had to sketch. ;) Sketched on the 6th of July, 2009.
The shape of this pepper looks homegrown? Yes, it is from my parents-in-law as well. My wife kept one for my sketch subject then I sketched on the 30th of June, 2009.
