Oranges in a bag

Another oranges in a cellophane bag sketched on the 11th of April, 2009. I think dark background like this is better for transparent object.

Oranges in a bag

I tried a smooth surfaced paper that is new to me. Quite different from what I am used to... Subject is my favorite "something in a cellophane bag". Sketched on the 20th of June, 2009.

Bananas

bananas090418

I think a bunch of bananas is a good subject to sketch. You may enjoy the shapes from various angles, ripening stages, and its taste in reward. :) This was painted on the 18th of April, 2009.

Apple

apple090510

My wife bought this apple together with the bruised mangoes. This is also partly bruised. I have been trying sketching apples quite a lot but I wanted to try another paper this time. Sketched on the 10th of May, 2009.

Bruised mango

mango090508

My wife has bought packed mangoes at low price today —this is one of them. She said she had thought these mangoes might be bruised but they were good as a painting subject then she bought them. Yes, she was right. Bruised fruits are allegorical. I used the black paper to produce Baroque-like effect and sketched the wrapping paper with the mango to show that this is left unsold. Sketched on the 8th of May, 2009.

Now, I have changed the way of uploading the images in this weblog from this entry. You may see the larger image by clicking the thumbnail shown above.

Peeled mikan

mikan090211

I peeled this mikan (japanese mandarine orange) partly for sketching. I tried the same subject three years ago but the oil pastel I use had changed a lot. I see how I like Senneliers and how I developed the handling way of OPs. This was painted on the 11th of February, 2009.
