Rusty parabolic antennas

antenna090808

There are so many rusty parabolic antennas for satellite broadcasting on rooftops of buildings in Syria. I sketched this looking out from the window when I was staying in Ar-Raqqa town. I was surprised to see there were many channels from surrounding Arabic nations this time because the channels were limited when I visited there last year. These antennas were sketched early in the morning on the 8th of August, 2009.

Balconies of a flat in Ar-Raqqa

flat090811

This is a view from a hotel room. When I was sketching this, people living in the flat found me and we enjoyed a chat. They were surprised and happy to see their place sketched by a stranger from the Far East. They requested me to show them the step-by-step processes of this sketch. Sketched on the 11th of August, 2009.

City view of Aleppo

aleppo090804

I needed to meet someone in Aleppo so I directly moved to the city from Damascus on the day I arrived at Syria. I sketched the view from the hotel room right after checking in because it was almost sunset. It was on the 4th of August, 2009.

I'm flying to Damascus via Dubai from Osaka right now with this hat on. =|B-) I'm staying in Syria for a couple of weeks and I hope I can sketch things during my stay. This hat was sketched on the 31st of July, 2009.
