I visited Chita peninsula, central Japan the day before yesterday and I collected some fossil samples from Miocene (17 Ma) sedimentary rocks. The yellowish part is the fossil of a sea urchin (Echinoderm) and the rock is siltstone. Sketched on the 25th of May, 2009.

Apple

My wife bought this apple together with the bruised mangoes. This is also partly bruised. I have been trying sketching apples quite a lot but I wanted to try another paper this time. Sketched on the 10th of May, 2009.

Bruised mango

mango090508

My wife has bought packed mangoes at low price today —this is one of them. She said she had thought these mangoes might be bruised but they were good as a painting subject then she bought them. Yes, she was right. Bruised fruits are allegorical. I used the black paper to produce Baroque-like effect and sketched the wrapping paper with the mango to show that this is left unsold. Sketched on the 8th of May, 2009.
