Colonial house in Nairobi

Getting back to the old days... this is one of my first OP paintings. I started oil pastels in Kenya because I couldn't carry oil painting tools from Japan. This house is the office building I worked for, and partly the accommodation as well —I lived there around a year in this house.
I used only very cheap hard oil pastels on the pencil draft. Oh, the way I paint has changed a lot. I cannot get back to the way I did like this... now I am used to use soft oil pastels like Senneliers and Holbeins. This work was painted on the 21st of April, 2002.

Ayu

We call this freshwater fish "Ayu". Someone calls "sweetfish" in English but I'm not sure this is universally known. Scientifically, Plecoglossus altivelis.
These are raw; before cooking. I didn't have time to sketch after cooking. ;) Sketched on the 10th June, 2007.

These silverwares are on a wood table but I painted yellow because the color is similar to the handles. It is interesting to paint metallic objects. 15th June, 2007.

Nairobi Java House's tea

This is a souvenir from a Japanese anthropologist working in Kenya. She's been back in Japan for a month and visited my office. I knew Nairobi Java House, Kenyan coffee shop, serves tea but I didn't know they sell the packages. I panted this on the 14th of June, 2007.

Olive oil

The shape of this bottle (x-section) is rhombus —It was a bit hard. I put it on a round table setting the edge come to the level of the oil in a bottle. I sketched this on the 2nd of June, 2007.
