Kenyan candle. It was difficult to select the correct colors while painting in the dark. How did the old masters like Georges de La Tour paint? I painted this on the 2nd February, 2006.
Tried to paint an apple on a toned paper. Since the paper surface is a bit rough, it was hard to fix oil pastels on it. I painted this on the 14th of January, 2007.
This 500g package of tea leaves is sold at the James Finlay tea factory in Kericho, Kenya. Yes, being a fresh product directly from the factory, its quality is quite high. I painted this in a hotel room at Nairobi on the 14th of December, 2006.
Another painting I used sgraffito (I did it on Japanese oranges in a net). I think scratching the painted surface can be one of the best expressions for light, minutely haired materials such as these kiwifruits. I painted this on 19th of November, 2006.
Carrying the world in your pocket is a lot of fun! I have bought this pocket-sized (actually a bit too big for a pocket...) atlas in Kenya to check where I was flying on the way back to Nagoya via Dubai. This was painted on 11th January, 2007.
I painted Japanese oranges in a net. The area of the oranges was masked with red (the color of the net) after sketching the outlines, and then I painted the oranges on the red mask. I drew out the lines of the net by removing the surface. How does it look?
This work was painted on the 6th of January, 2007.
I'm tweeting. Language I mainly tweet is Japanese but any language-tweeter is welcome! Follow me!
