Leather briefcase

Glass sugar pot

sugar090305

I often sketch something I found in my everyday life such as this sugar pot on the table. I feel happy when I find quite interesting points in such subjects—lights, shadows and metallic shines of the pot in this case. Even a worm will turn. Sketched on the 5th of March, 2009.

Guess how big this bag is. The longest side of this trunk-shaped bag is around 30 cm long. My wife used this as a CD container before but my son likes this as his favorite toy now. Sketched on the 3rd of October, 2009.

A book about Arabic calligraphy

khat090820

This is a book about Arabic calligraphy titled "روح الخط العربي (the Spirit of Arabic Calligraphy)" written by a Lebanese calligrapher named Kamil Al-Baba (كامل البابا). The calligraphy work on the cover says "علم بالقلم (Learn with the pen)". So symbolic. I love Arabic calligraphy. Sketched this on the 20th of August, 2009.

Soap from Aleppo

Mirror

mirror090813

This is a room mirror in the hotel room at Damascus. The frame of this mirror was Ottoman empire styled decoration. I sketched it sitting on a bed so the position of the mirror was a little higher. That's why you cannot find me in the mirror. Sketched on the 13th of August, 2009.

Rusty parabolic antennas

antenna090808

There are so many rusty parabolic antennas for satellite broadcasting on rooftops of buildings in Syria. I sketched this looking out from the window when I was staying in Ar-Raqqa town. I was surprised to see there were many channels from surrounding Arabic nations this time because the channels were limited when I visited there last year. These antennas were sketched early in the morning on the 8th of August, 2009.
