Foggy Ar-Raqqa town

raqqa091120

It's been long since I last updated this weblog.... I travelled Syria again in November and now spending extraordinarily busy December now. :(
I stayed in Ar-Raqqa town as every time I visit Syria for my research project. Surprisingly it was foggy in the morning in this dusty dry town. Maybe this is because of the high relative humidity caused by a rapid decline of temperature. I sketched this foggy view at the hotel restaurant on the 20th of November, 2009.

Balconies of a flat in Ar-Raqqa

flat090811

This is a view from a hotel room. When I was sketching this, people living in the flat found me and we enjoyed a chat. They were surprised and happy to see their place sketched by a stranger from the Far East. They requested me to show them the step-by-step processes of this sketch. Sketched on the 11th of August, 2009.

City view of Aleppo

aleppo090804

I needed to meet someone in Aleppo so I directly moved to the city from Damascus on the day I arrived at Syria. I sketched the view from the hotel room right after checking in because it was almost sunset. It was on the 4th of August, 2009.

View from Al-Karak castle

karak081123

Al-Karak castle is a famous crusader castle located on the hilltop of Karak city, Jordan. This is a view from the castle to the west, direction to Dead Sea and Palestine. Unfortunately, it was cloudy but I heard that Dead Sea could be seen when the whether was fine. On the 23rd of September, 2008.

Sunset in Kisumu

kisumu080821

I'm back from Kenya. I stayed in Kisumu, western Kenya for a couple of weeks. Kisumu is located at eastern end of Lake Victoria, and is famous for its beautiful sunset. Unfortunately, it rained everyday (usually, this is a dry season but... I don't know why) and I could see beautiful flaming sunset only one day during my stay. Now, this is the one I painted at the time! It was the 21st of August, 2008. Facing to the central Kisumu —the tower is the broadcasting tower.

I'm travelling Syria. I stayed at Damascus for one night and moved to Ar-raqqa. I'm connecting to the net from a cybercafe in Ar-raqqa. I have painted this sketch in the morning before I leave Damuscus, 6th November, 2007.
