Twilight

One of the oldest OP works of mine. You may see this in the header area of this weblog. I started oil pastels instead of oil painting because I couldn't carry pinting tools to Kenya. It was 2002.
The silhouetted tree is jacaranda in the compound of where I lived in Westlands, Nairobi. I painted the colors of twilight sky with water-soluble crayons and oil pastels first, and then captured the jacaranda tree with inks on it. I painted this on the 13th of July, 2002.

I really like the houses in this piece. They look alive somehow, it seems people must be inside all cozy in the evening. The tree is also very beautiful.
