This watermelon is from my parents-in-law's backyard farm. Their watermelons always make me realize the season became summer. They have brought us this watermelon this morning and I sketched in the evening. The 20th of July, 2009.
i am a girl form China and very honour to see your painting and like it very very much. but have a question that is why you draw the single object recently instead of landscape. coz like your landscape too.

Thanks for your comment, bella.
So happy to hear that you like my landscapes. I usually sketch things after getting home everyday then the subjects are naturally these single objects... but I'd like to sketch landscape if I've got a chance.
I'm planning to travel in Middle East next month so I'm going to try.

Hi bella,
I'm back from the trip last week.
The frame of mind while drawing? Mm.. I think I'm very relaxed. Drawing/painting is a kind of tranquilizers to me.:)

Welcome!
Welcome to "Artist at Heart | Oil Pastel Blog"! This weblog shows oil pastel sketches by Yusuke Katsurada whatever they are new or old.
The collection book of my oil pastel works was published in March, 2010. The book is titled "humble but rich life with oil pastels". 160 works were selected from my daily sketches painted from 2006 to early 2010. Full colour images of the works are shown, and short comments/explanations were given to each work by me. You can purchase the copy on-line at blurb.com. Check at this page, too.
