Ready to paint?

itsukihand081130

Sorry for the long silence since I last updated this blog last month. I sketched my son's hand while he was asleep together with a single oil pastel stick of Sennelier on the 30th of November, 2008. At this time, he was 10 months old and he has just became 1 year old last week.

Now, let me introduce a good article at emptyeasel.com titled "Oil Pastels 101: A Comprehensive Guide to Painting with Oil Pastel". This article about oil pastels was written by Robert Sloan, American oil pastel artist/writer. Comprehensive knowledge about this fine art medium is intelligibly explained. My painting of three green apples is shown in this article. Thank you, Robert. Thank you, editors. Thank you, visitors.

Congratulations, Yusuke, on having your apples published in the article! - and thanks for posting the link. I am itching to get my OPs out again after experimenting lately with coloured pens and gouache.

This is a lovely sketch of your little boy's hand - the gesture and those fingernails are so lovingly depicted. I'm astonished to read that he's a year old already!

Thanks for your quick comment and compliment, E-J.
Well, I enjoy your various sketches and lovely days reported in your weblog. I remember your recent post of your wonderful OP painting of the "hands". Compliment from you just makes me very happy. Thanks.
