Rhododendron

This rhododendron branch was given by the grandparents of one grad. school student of our research group when we visited mountainous regions of Asuke, Aichi prefecture for our seminar’s fieldwork. I painted this work for an old lady who had cared my family (especially, my mother — well, she asked me to paint a small work as a gift to her) very much. I made the background color dark in order to express distinct figure of the rhododendron and this successfully matches the language of this flower, ‘dignity’. But unfortunately, the dark-burgundy background color looks like black in the computer monitor.
