This is not a portrait of a cat nor a storehouse (this looks like a barn but I heard its a granary) or should I say its a portrait of the relationship between these two. I think this combination of a storehouse which is now used for daily lives and a cat which makes this storehouse as her liar is a good combination for meaningfull expression. Contents in this work is mainly the same as the exact position except for sieves on the wall, which I put on this position to make the composition with their circular shapes. Cat is a mysterious animal to me and I think cat matches well with old Japanese houses. Handwriting characters written on the walls are important elements to indicate existence of humans. Characters of every language and every era always interest/inspire me a lot and so in this case, this handwritings motivated me to paint this work. |
