This cat is the same one as the cat painted in my last year’s work, «Her Place». I think many people may wonder why the title is “Memories”. This is because this cat already has passed away —so if the person, who knows the cat well, looked at this work as a portrait, this may remind him/her of the “memories” of the cat. The scene of looking back in front of the door open to the sunny outside is the sympolic image that indicates “life and death”. Anyway, I needed to depict the image realistically to make this picture a portrait, I borrowed lots of photographs and also visited the place to observe the carpet and the glass door of background.
