Although F30 sized painting is not so forcing to be called as a big work, I challenged to this big one after a long interval my latest big work is F80 sized the Country Lodge (1996). I selected this motif to picture the peculiar atmosphere of modern Japan (I imagined Meiji period, about 100 years ago). I dont want to explain in detail since being frank about the secret may spoil your interest about this scene, but I tell you that this work is based on some photos I took at an exact retrospective place in Aichi prefecture. As I thought rhythmical composition is needed for the theme which has literally all ages and countries inside, the background was divided with similar triangles and was deepened with the direction of the ladys vision and the evening sky was seperated with an art-nouveau styled pole. In the photograph I used, the objests are lighted up with a strobe flash, then I imagined the shades and set the position of the light and a model again in my studio to paint this work. |
